The North Rowan High School Marching Band opened it’s competitive marching season Oct. 4 by winning the Class 3A Marching Band Division of the “Lord Salisbury Marching Band Contest” at Catawba College.
This is North’s third consecutive year as a class champion. Awards included first places in band, drum line, colorguard, music and marching maneuvering, third place in general effect and a top rating of Superior.
This year’s show features the jazz and lyrical music of American composer George Gershwin. The band was to compete next at the Oct. 11 East Rowan Food Lion Classic Band Contest.
The band is directed by Keith and Andrew Howe.
