Education news – South Rowan High has 7 AP Scholars

Seven students at South Rowan High School have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program Exams
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on performance on AP exams.
Kristian Doty qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
Franklin Caldwell and Haley Haithcock qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
Addison Corriher, Thomas Mabry, Whitney Mullis and Donald Turbyfill qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of 3 or higher.
Slate presentation
Dr. James Slate, associate professor of economics at Catawba College, made a presentation entitled “Assessing the Current Economy and Financial Crisis in America” Oct. 22 at First United Methodist Church in Lexington.
He is scheduled to speak at a Nov. 3 open lecture at Milford Hills United Methodist Church on “Getting Here from There, Glass-Steagall and Today’s Financial Crisis.”
Students score well
The 26 spring 2008 graduates of the associate degree nursing program at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College recently achieved a 100-percent passing rate on the North Carolina licensure examination for registered nurses.
