NCCAT seminar helpMaria M. Freeman, who teaches at Erwin Middle School, recently served as a candidate support provider for a seminar at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching in Cullowhee.
A nationally certified teacher in the area of early childhoodńyoung adulthood/ exceptional needs specialist, Freeman assisted a group of teachers who were attending a support seminar held for candidates pursuing certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. She helped the candidates analyze their teaching practices as they prepared for the professional portfolio required by the national certification process.
Also, several other area educators recently attended seminars held at the center.
They include Kathryn S. Steen of Carson High School; Jennifer B. Christy, Deborah S. Johnson and Deborah L. Starnes of Corriher-Lipe Middle School; Melanie H. Blount of E. Hanford Dole Elementary School; Stephen C. Lundgren of Erwin Middle School; Janice C. Raper of Hurley Elementary School; Melanie M. Ferguson, Martha S. Smith and Susan G. Walters of Millbridge Elementary School; Sharon R. Ingold of Shive Elementary School; and Karen J. Miller of South Rowan High School.
And Cynthia J. Adkins of East Rowan High School attended the support seminar for teachers pursuing certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. She attended as a Golden LEAF scholar through an award to NCCAT from Golden LEAF Inc. of Rocky Mount.
