Early College session
The Rowan County Early College will host information sessions for eighth-grade students and their parents Nov. 5 at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in Salisbury.
Sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the college’s teaching auditorium in the 600 Building.
Rowan County Early College, a partnership of the Rowan-Salisbury School System and RCCC, is a tuition-free program in which high school students earn a college-preparation high school diploma and up to two years of college transfer credit simultaneously.
A new ninth-grade class starts each year in August and completes the program four years later as 12th-graders. Students take all of their classes at RCCC’s North Campus in Salisbury.
The program is designed for students who are often under-represented at four-year colleges, including those who would be first-generation college students and those who need financial assistance.
To be selected for the program, students must display eagerness to accept rigorous coursework, enthusiasm for new and different approaches to learning and the ability to form and grow productive relationships with teachers, other students and the community.
