YLA applications
The Youth Advocacy and Involvement Office of the N.C. Department of Administration will accept applications through Feb. 7 for the 38th annual Youth Legislative Assembly to be held March 7-9 in Raleigh.YLA is an opportunity for high school students to write, debate and vote on bills and share their views with legislators and other state government officials.
Presiding over the 38th annual assembly will be Shivani Sud, a senior at Jordan High School in Durham; Nandini Dhullipala, a senior at Chapel Hill High School; and Seth Morris, a junior at Salisbury High School.
“Early bird” student registration is due by Feb. 1. The per-student fee of $100 (four students in one room) or $140 (two students in one room) covers hotel accommodations for two nights, five meals, a T-shirt and conference materials. Fees must be included with the application and will increase after Feb. 1. Written notice of acceptance or denial will be provided by March 1.
