Knox Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society recently inducted its first 35 members.
All had 3.0 or higher grade-point averages and showed strength in the areas of leadership, citizenship, service and character.
They are Allysa Adams, Cristen Blanding, Whitney Brown, Lucas Camacho, Katie Cater, Nicole Chamberlain, Rakya Ellis, Bryce Ford, Aalaiya Funderburk, John Grant, Kate Grant, Janaye Hargrave, Brandon Hawkins, Desmond Holmes, Eugene Jones, Rachel Jones, Andrew Kennedy, Traci Leak, Dezirae Lee, Skyler Mikkelson, Kaylon Morgan, Frances Nyae, Bobbi Propst, Sarah Seifert, Ca-Daryl Sloan, Brooke Smith, Stephanie Swing, Kadijah Torrence, DeMarcus Tracey, Kayla Tucker, Zachary Tucker, Khadijah Watts, NyQuamia Wells, Millinda Widener and Kyle Wolfe.
The faculty council that worked to establish the new organization included Frances Coalson, Sandy Meeks, Carlotta Chambers, Sue Patton and Joan Wooten. Besty Cunningham is the faculty adviser.
Tom Fisher, Susie Wear, Ivy Brisbin and Kevin Wood, members of Salisbury High School’s National Honor Society, and Adair Doran, chapter adviser, assisted Knox in its first induction ceremony.
Lunchroom questions
Rowan-Salisbury School’s registered dietitian and graduate students answered questions about school lunches and lunchroom policies during a recent visit to Millbridge Elementary School.
The visit resulted from letters to Wanda Pender, lunchroom manager.
Students toured the school’s kitchen to have a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes.
