Fourteen area students have been named to the fall semester academic lists at Elon University.
Those named to the president’s list are Annie Elliott and Megan Sabo of Salisbury, Monica Poteat of Kannapolis, Taylor Brown, Hilary Jeanette and Cynthia Prentice of Lexington.
Those named to the dean’s list are Rae Hinkle of Lexington and Alexandra Hensley, Nicole Belsole, Danielle Dufour, Michelle Scovill, Lesley Cowie, Kelsey Gwilt and Michelle Newman, all of Lexington.
NHS convention
Four members of Gray Stone Day School’s National Honor Society attended the 2007 National Honor Society convention in Atlanta.
They are Kelsey Maher, Rachel Mobley and Sarah Holder, all from Salisbury, and Marie Wood of Misenheimer. They were accompanied by Megan Crain, NHS advisor.
Attendees learned the responsibilities and characteristics of being an NHS officer, planning and organizing numerous fundraisers, and other fun and beneficial activities. They met people from the United States, Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Virgin Islands, allowing them to experience different cultures and exchange ideas between NHS chapters.
They attended leadership, service, fundraising and bonding sessions, which they shared with other Gray Stone NHS members.
Faith recognition
Faith Elementary School recently recognized students as Good Citizens and Good Deed Doers furing January.
Good Citizens are:
Kindergarten: Mattie Chilson, Braeden Moore, Ethan Lundy and Kayleigh Hill.
First grade: Stephen Deutsch, Nick Klein, Taylor Brown and Ty McCoy.
Second grade: Bree Tucker, Peyton Lambert and Julian Whaley.
Third grade: Trenton Frye, Kendra Carter, Trevor Keller and Elizabeth Ivanov.
Fourth grade: Rachel Eller, Mason Clement and Kathryn Blunt.
Fifth grade: Jacob O’Neal, Colby Collins and Laura Isenhour.
Good Deed Doers are:
Kindergarten: River Belk, Kayla Fesperman, Victoria Lemasters and Tiffani Logan.
First grade: Lauren Yousey, Nancy Gamewell, Danielle Arlotta and Joshua Morgan.
Second grade: Mahaley Miller, Brycen Holshouser and Justin Peeler.
Third grade: Harrison Kratzer, Jeremy Carter, Caylynn Westberg and Tessa Ross.
Fourth grade: Ximena Bello, Brittany Lyerly and Angel Hopkins.
Fifth grade: Brittany Goodman, Kennedy Lambert and Haley Farmer.
