A 16-year-old Rockwell driver is in critical condition in a Charlotte hospital after a Christmas Day wreck on Faith Road.
Adam Muncy of 512 Salisbury St., Rockwell, was critically injured in the accident around 8:15 p.m. Thursday.
Trooper D.T. Sloop of the N.C. Highway Patrol said Muncy had internal injuries. He was airlifted from the scene to Carolinas Medical Center.
Muncy, who got his learner’s permit on Dec. 3, 2007, was driving a 1997 Ford Contour north on Faith Road in excess of the posted 45 mph speed limit, according to the patrol report.
The vehicle went off the right side of the road.
Muncy over-corrected and crossed over the the yellow line into the southbound lane.
A 2000 Toyota driven by Demika Wallace, 28, of 6456 W.T. Harris Blvd., Charlotte, struck the Muncy vehicle in a near T-bone fashion as it crossed the roadway.
Wallace, along with two passengers, Deborah Wallace, 46, and Tydajah Wallace, 6, were taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center.
All three members of the Wallace family were transferred to the trauma center at Carolinas Medical Center.
A spokesman for the hospital said the Wallaces were discharged Friday.
Trooper Sloop said charges are pending.
