Candidate to speak
State Senator Kay Hagan, a candidate in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, will speak at the next meeting of the Rowan County Democratic Party Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
The meeting will take place in the Commissioners’ Chambers on the second floor of the County Administration Building, 130 W. Innes St.
Hagan is a Shelby native, who met her husband, Chip, in law school at Wake Forest. After her third child was born, she left her job at a large bank to focus on being a full-time mom, staying active in the community and working with the United Way, the National Conference for Community and Justice, church committees and school activities. Building on her civic service and grassroots involvement in politics, Hagan was elected to the North Carolina Senate in 1998.
The public is welcome to attend the meeting.
