School delayed two hours
Rowan-Salisbury public schools will open two hours late this morning, school officials announced Thursday night, apparently worried about slick roads.
Any other organizations or businesses that intend to open late, use an alternate schedule or cancel an event should call the Salisbury Post this morning at 704-797-4252 or e-mail information to news@salisburypost.com.
The Post will get that information on its Web site, www.salisburypost.com, immediately this morning.
All area school systems cancelled classes Thursday while several inches of snow and slush remained on roads and sidewalks.
Here’s a list of some of the other cancellations Thursday:
– Livingstone College cancelled night classes.
– Catawba College cancelled night and evening classes and rescheduled them for Feb. 2, a Saturday. Any changes or delays in this Saturday’s classes will be posted on the Catawba Web site by 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
– Rowan-Cabarrus Community College cancelled evening classes.
– Kannapolis cancelled garbage collection. Thursday routes will run today, and Friday routes will run Saturday.
– Concord city crews did not collect loose leaves. Limb and bagged yard waste crews were held back until 8 a.m. Garbage pickup was delayed.
– All YMCA branches in Rowan County opened late ó at noon.
– Boys’ basketball games were cancelled and are scheduled to be made up on Feb. 11, a Monday, at the time scheduled for tonight’s games.
– Cannon School cancelled classes.
– Sacred Heart Catholic School closed.
– Salisbury Academy closed.
– Rockwell Christian School closed.
– North Hills School closed.
– Rowan Vocational Workshop closed.
– Meals on Wheels did not deliver meals.
– Abundant Living Adult Day Care closed.
