Davie Y going tobacco free July 1
MOCKSVILLE ó The Davie Family YMCA will become tobacco-free July 1.
All Y property will be tobacco-free for staff, volunteers, members, program participants and guests. Y members are being informed about the new policy through newsletter articles, from staff and by signs being posted this month.
Staff was given a list of resources to help comply with the new policy.
Jennifer Rackley, executive director of the Davie Y, said the tobacco-free policy is consistent with its role as a community leader in promoting healthy lifestyles for children and families. “The YMCA has an obligation to promote a healthy environment,” she said, “free from second-hand smoke and tobacco use.”
