Cystic fibrosis fundraiser is Monday
On Monday, Team Saving Grace is partnering with two local restaurants to raise money to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Romano’s, 1510 W. Innes St., and its newest restaurant, Capriano’s, 231 Faith Road, are again supporting the CF Foundation by donating a portion of the day’s proceeds from lunch and/or dinner, dine-in or take-out.
Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of 30,000 people in the U.S.
There are 15 children and young adults in Rowan County who have this disease, including Grace Hodge, who was diagnosed in 2005. She takes a handful of enzymes daily to help with her digestion spends almost two hours a day on a machine to loosen mucus and on a nebulizer to inhale certain medications. Family and friends have formed Team Saving Grace to support Grace and her family and to raise money to find a cure for her and all those suffering with CF.
Last year, this event raised more than $1,000. Of every dollar donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, more than 90 cents goes directly to research.
