Creative Loafing publisher files bankruptcy

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ó The publisher of a chain of alternative weeklies from Tampa to Chicago has filed for bankruptcy.
Creative Loafing Inc. filed for bankruptcy Monday in Florida. The Tampa-based company owns publications in Atlanta; Tampa Bay; Charlotte, North Carolina; Sarasota; Chicago and Washington.
The filing comes about a year after Creative Loafingís July 2007 purchase of The Chicago Reader and Washington City Paper.
According to the filing, Creative Loafing reported estimated assets between $10 million and $50 million. It reported liabilities of the same amount.
