A 37-year-old Concord man was sentenced to 8 years in federal prison in July after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.
According to U.S. Attorney Anna Mills Wagoner’s office, federal agents recovered more than 1,000 images of child pornography on Terry Layton’s computer and compact discs found during a search of his residence.
U.S. District Court Judge William L. Osteen sentenced Layton to 97 months in prison and then six years of supervised probation. There is no parole for federal prison sentences.
“The United States Attorney’s Office and its law enforcement partners are committed to identifying and prosecuting sexual predators who exploit children,” Wagoner said in a press release. “Today’s sentencing sends a clear message to those who prey on children: We will find you, we will convict you, and you will serve a lengthy prison sentence.”
The FBI investigated the case against Layton.
