CONCORD ó Fire heavily damaged one home and reached two other houses and three vehicles Friday morning on Brown Street.
Concord fire investigators say the blaze started in the wall of a bathroom at 204 Brown St. S.W. Officials called the fire accidental but did not elaborate.
The Department of Fire and Life Safety was dispatched at 5:21 a.m., and the first unit arrived at 5:25, finding heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the house, according to Public Information Officer Jennifer Simpson
Firefighters had the blaze under control at 5:35 a.m., but officials estimated damage to the structure at $42,000.
The other houses and vehicles damaged by fire or heat were not identified in a short press release.
The fire remains under investigation.
Four engine trucks, two ladder trucks, two rescue units, a battalion chief and support personnel ó 28 in all ó responded to the fire, Simpson said.
