The Community Care Clinic of Rowan County has been awarded a $206,526 grant by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust of Winston-Salem.
Connie Antosek, executive director of the Community Care Clinic, said the funds will be awarded over a three-year period and will be used to expand services in order to increase access to medical care to the uninsured low-income residents of Rowan County.
“The Community Care Clinic continues to meet the increasing demands for services,” Antosek said, “by providing free medical care, dental care and prescription medications to qualified residents of Rowan County.
“The grant from Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust will give us additional resources to add additional medical clinics and increase the number of patients served,” Antosek added.
The Community Care Clinic was founded in 1996 by Rowan Regional Medical Center in an effort to provide health care to a qualifying segment of needy residents. During the past 10 years of operation, the clinic has provided services to 27,330 residents and dispensed 52,160 prescriptions.
Pharmacist J. Michael Fuller is chairman of the board of directors.
Three-fourths of the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust grants are designated for health-related programs and services across North Carolina.
