Rowan County commissioners and school officials committed to work together to improve the Rowan-Salisbury Schools during a meeting Monday afternoon.

Commissioners and school board members praised Dr. Judy Grissom who took over as superintendent last April.

And officials clearly placed the blame for the system’s failure on Dr. Wiley J. Doby, the previous superintendent.

Grissom on Monday outlined detailed plans to improve communication as well as improve what goes on in the classroom.

Grissom said it will be an uphill struggle to meet the goals of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.
