Commercial pesticide workshop offered Nov. 12

Cooperative Extension is hosting a commercial pesticide meeting focusing on “Pesticide Safety, Calibration and “The Future of Pesticide Use” Nov. 12 at the Agricultural Center on Old Concord Road in Salisbury.
These subjects are becoming increasingly important to people who apply pesticides. The class will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 11:35 a.m.
Agenda for the workshop:
– 9 a.m. ó Welcome and first topic, “Understanding Pesticide Labels,” Darrell Blackwelder, Cooperative Extension Rowan County
– 9:30 ó “Role of Pesticide Inspector,” Edward Nunn, NCDA pesticide inspector
– 9:45 ó “Calibration Techniques,” Troy Coggins, Cooperative Extension Davidson-Randolph Counties
– 10:30 ó “Future of Pesticides,” Bob Bruss, NCDA pesticide specialist
Two 2 1/2 hours pesticide re-certification credits are offered in the following subclasses: A. Aquatic, B. Public Health, G. Forest, H. Right-of-way, I. Regulatory, K. Ag. Pest-Animal, L. Ornamentals and Turf; M. Seed Treatment, N. Demonstration and Research, O. Ag Pest-Plant, T. Wood Treatment, D. Dealer and X. Private-A, G, K, L, M, O.
