Salisbury Fire Chief Bob Parnell is encouraging the local faith community to chime their church bells in honor of Salisbury’s fallen firefighters at 2 p.m. today.
Parnell made the request on behalf of the city and Fire Department.
Salisbury firefighters Victor Isler and Justin Monroe died in the Friday morning fire at Salisbury Millwork, located at 1910 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.
A joint funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Omwake-Dearborn Chapel on the campus of Catawba College.
“By sounding their chimes or bells at precisely 2 p.m.,” Parnell said of local churches, “our families of faith will join together into one unified voice to honor these courageous Salisbury firefighters.
“The tremendous outpouring of community love and support continues daily and, for that, we are eternally grateful.”
