China Grove man could face additional charges after fatal crash

A China Grove driver could face more serious charges after the death of a Rockwell man from injuries sustained in a July 12 accident.
Carles Lee Delph, 64, of Lowerstone Church Road, died Friday at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. Delph, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, was buried Monday at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.
N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper C.F. Rogers charged Johnny Alfonso Armstrong, 61, of 1467 Circle Drive, China Grove with unsafe movement after the accident.
According to the report, Delph was a passenger in a 2003 PT Cruiser driven by his son, Matthew Delph, 34, also of 2656 Lowerstone Church Road.
The accident occurred at 6885 Old Beatty Ford Road around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12.
According to the report, Armstrong pulled his 2007 Pontiac from a private driveway and attempted to make a left turn onto Old Beatty Ford Road, pulling into the path of the PT Cruiser, which was travelling east.
The Bostian Heights Fire Department responded the accident.
Three people were transported to CMC-NorthEast from the accident.
Fire Chief Mike Zimmerman, who responded to the accident, said Carles Delph appeared to be seriously injured.
