Authorities say two sisters charged with the attempted murder of a Salisbury woman went to her home over a relationship the victim had with one of the suspect’s ex-boyfriend.
Salisbury Police charged Alizabeth Wedeh Wah, 17, and Aimeey Bonyenor Wah, 19, both of 505 N. Salisbury Ave., Spencer, with attempting to murder Arvilee Gaither five months ago.
Salisbury Police Chief Mark Wilhelm said the two sisters went to Gaither’s home at 2345 Statesville Blvd. Apt. 150, on Aug. 4, 2008.
Wilhelm said Gaither is the current girlfriend of a man who used to date one of the sisters. It’s unknown which sister.
Gaither’s back door was locked. Wilhelm said the suspects broke a window, reached in and unlocked a deadbolt.
Gaither was beaten on her head and body with some unknown object, he said.
“She received multiple wounds to her head and body,” Wilhelm said.
Gaither was holding her then 14-month-old child, who also suffered injuries from the beating.
“The child appeared to have small abraisons to the head and was bleeding. The child was beaten and had what appeared to be puncture wounds,” Wilhelm said.
Arrest warrants said Alizabeth Wah was also charged with carrying a 6-inch knife with a 3-inch blade into the Rowan County courthouse on Thursday.
The two were chargedwith attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
“Both participated in the beating,” he said.
Both sisters remain behind bars. Alizabeth is in the Rowan County Detention Center under $375,000 bond. Aimeey’s bond is $300,000.
