CONCORD ó The Greater Monroe Kennel Club’s dog shows, obedience and rally trials return to the Cabarrus Arena & Event Center this weekend.
The three-day indoor event is open to the public and features 1,800 dogs competing in conformation and performance events and 20 specialty vendors from Florida to New England.
The dogs will jump hurdles to retrieve objects and quickly return to their handlers. More than 134 breeds will compete for best in show.
Representatives from dog food companies will be present to answer nutrition questions.
The Greater Monroe Kennel Club hosts the event Friday and Saturday, and the Fayetteville Kennel Club hosts events Sunday. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. all three days. Admission is free.
Due to the large entry of show dogs, no non-entered dogs allowed on the premises. For the safety of babies and toddlers, no strollers will be allowed in the buildings.
