MOORESVILLE ó Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has added two hospitalists and a new chief operating officer to its staff.
The hospitalists are Dr. Michelle Ong and Dr. Jorge Paulino. Andrew Tatnall is the chief operating officer.
Ong received her medical degree from Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta, Ga., and completed her internship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in College Park, Md. She completed her residency in primary care at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.
A board-certified internal medicine physician, Ong holds additional qualifications in geriatrics and is currently researching memory improvement and aging. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians and the American Geriatrics Society. In addition to regularly volunteering at the Mooresville free clinic, she volunteers on medical mission trips to South America.
Paulino received his medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He served his internal medicine residency at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami in Miami, Fla.
Board-certified in internal medicine, Paulino also has specialized certification in hyperbaric medicine and problem wound management. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the Society of Hospital Medicine.
A hospitalist is a physician who treats patients only while they are admitted to the hospital rather than having an office for outpatient visits. The medical center has at least one hospitalist on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Previously, Tatnall was senior vice president, operations division, for WellStar Health System in Marietta, Ga. He also was senior vice president, clinical services; administrator for WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta; and chief operating officer for Boca Raton Community Hospital in Boca Raton, Fla.
Most recently, Tatnall was responsible for strategic planning and new business development in diagnostic imaging, oncology, pharmacy and laboratory services.
Tatnall holds both a MBA and a master’s degree in health administration from Georgia State University in addition to a bachelor of business administration in finance from Emory University in Atlanta. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a past president of the Georgia Association of Healthcare Executives.
