Blue light attracts officer’s attention

CONCORD ó A 19-year-old faces numerous charges after an officer saw him using a blue strobe light and running through a red light at an intersection.
Joseph Martinez, 19, of 291 Brunting Lane, is charged with impaired driving, provisional licensee driving after consuming, open container in passenger area, consuming alcohol by person less than 21, possession and operation of blue lights on vehicle, no operator’s license and driving left of center.
A police officer patrolling Warren C. Coleman Boulevard near the intersection of Old Charlotte Road at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday morning spotted the car and stopped it near Wilshire Avenue. He discovered the driver was impaired.
Blue strobe lights were attached to the front of the black 1993 Chevrolet Geo two- door he was operating. The vehicle was seized and the driver was taken to the Cabarrus County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
