Blotter: Vandals target Hispanic business two consecutive days

Vandals struck a local Hispanic business on consecutive nights earlier this month.
A representative of Carniceria Y Abarrotes reported the business was the victim of a vandalism at 5295 S. Main St. the night of Aug. 6, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. No estimate of damage was given.
On Aug. 7, vandals broke the front door of Carniceria Y Abarrotes, using a cinderblock and causing an estimated $400 damage.
In other Sheriff’s Office reports:
– James Franklin Ward, 35, was charged Aug. 11 with a domestic violence protective order violation.
– James Fred Hendrix, 36, was charged Aug. 11 with second-degree trespassing.
– Kerri Anne Jones, 25, was charged Aug. 11 with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance.
– Michael Scott Witt, 26, was charged Aug. 11 with injury to personal property at 290 Earnest Miller Road.- Joel Wayne Yates reported a burglar broke into his business at 2980 E. N.C. 152, China Grove, the night of Aug. 11 and removed items.
– Kimberly Chon Sifford, 43, was charged Aug. 12 with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and displaying a fictitious registration plate following a traffic stop on Old Union Church Road in East Spencer.
– June Lane Hartsoe, 102 Rutledge St., China Grove, reported vandals damaged a window and a door at her home Aug. 12.
– Colleen Hoffner, 4825 Bringle Ferry Road, reported an Aug. 12 larceny at her home.
– Nathaniel Young, 104 Overbrook Road, reported a lawnmower stolen from his property the night of Aug. 11.
– Jared Travis Hager, 19, was charged Aug. 12 with injury to personal property.
– Roberto Rodriguez Leal, 21, was charged Aug. 12 with assault on a female.
– Bradford Howard Wyrick, 50, was charged Aug. 12 with assault by pointing a gun at 1935 Angela Drive, Kannapolis and resisting, delaying and obstructing a public officer at 1000 Canyon Lane, Kannapolis.
– Pauline Trexler Wycoff, 2320 Grace Church Road, reported a burglar broke into her storage building the night of Aug. 12 and stole two tool boxes with tools. Total loss was $400.
– A burglar broke the lock off a storage building at 515 Barnhardt Road Aug. 13, but nothing was stolen.
– Hayden Edward Poteat, 375 Atwell Road, reported a catalytic converter stolen off a vehicle parked at his home Aug. 13.
– Faye Bacon, 1029 Canyon Lane, Kannapolis, reported her debit card and personal checks stolen from her home between Aug. 2 and 13.
– Items were stolen from a vehicle parked at 2235 E. N.C. 152, China Grove, the night of Aug. 11.
– Someone tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill at Derrick’s Travel Plaza, 1105 Peeler Road, at 12:10 p.m. Aug. 13.
– William S. Rainey, 150 Starlight Drive, Rockwell, reported items stolen from his home between Aug. 7 and 13.
– Scott Cook of China Grove reported he had been a victim of fraud by false pretense between July 23 and Aug. 13.
– Homer Steven Crowe, 215 Willow Oaks Drive, China Grove, reported items stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home the night of Aug. 12.
– Travis D. Clark, 46, was charged Aug. 13 with violating Employment Security Commission laws at 323 Crown Point Drive.
– Brandon Keith Galarza, 19, was charged Aug. 13 with second-degree trespassing at 121 Hemlock Drive.
