Carteret business nod
Frank Kivett of Morehead City has been named Small Business Person of the Year by the Carteret County Chamber of commerce.
A native of Montgomery County, Kivett is a Catawba College alumnus and former Salisbury resident.
His contributions were acknowledged during the Jan. 26 presentation. They include helping needy families, disaster relief, work with schools, raising student supply funds for teachers and providing “Thank a Veteran for Your Freedom” U.S. flags for elementary school students and reflector Trick or Treat bags for children through the police and sheriff’s departments in Carteret County.
He is also the recipient of the Community Service Award from the Carteret County Association of Realtors for his continuing community work and service to others and awards and recognition for his community work with the Employment Security Commission’s Job Link program and with children and law enforcement.
Kivett owns Kivett’s Happy House Realty, which covers Carteret County and the Crystal Coast area of North Carolina.
January Caregiver
Barbara Woodruff has been named January Caregiver of the Month at Home Instead Senior Care, 625 W. Innes St.
The award is given to an employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty in caring for seniors with whom they are entrusted.
Woodruff, who joined the Home Instead staff last March, is working on a business administration degree from Livingstone College. She and her husband live in Salisbury and have three sons and six grandchildren.
“Barbara’s quiet, gentle spirit coupled with her ever-present warm smile wraps itself all around her clients, and they look forward to her bringing purpose and fulfillment to their days,” said Maxine Lang, office manager. “She always carries out her duties faithfully and shares her compassionate heart and gentle touch with her clients.”
