Dillon Matthew Bentley, 16, earned his Eagle Scout Award Nov. 16 at Christiana Lutheran Church.
A junior at East Rowan High School, Bentley received the award from Jeff Fleming, scoutmaster of Troop 317 and assistant scoutmasters J. Woods, Mike Keene and Mike Egloff.
Bentley has earned 28 merit badges, served as a member of the Order of the Arrow and held numerous leadership positions in the troop, including assistant senior patrol leader. He attended the 2005 National Scout Jamboree at Fort AP Hill, Va. He received special recognition from U.S. Rep. Robin Hayes.
Bentley is the son of Jerry Bentley and Maria Kimrey and the stepson of Lance Kimrey. He is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to work in a medical field.
For his Eagle Scout project, Bently got money and design plans for eight park benches. Home Depot furnished all materials for the benches, which Bentley and fellow Scouts built and placed in Dunn’s Mountain Park and Dan Nicholas Park.
