Authorities suspect arson in East Spencer apartment fire

EAST SPENCER ó Authorities say someone intentionally started a fire Saturday in an apartment on Adams Street.
Interim Fire Chief Jeff Russell said firefighters found the fire burning in a front room and in two bedrooms when they arrived around 1:30 p.m.
Russell said there was evidence of a break-in.
The apartment at 317 Adams St. was vacant.
Firefighters from Salisbury, Union and Miller’s Ferry assisted East Spencer in extinguishing the fire.
Damage was estimated at $8,000 to $10,000.
Russell said the Rowan County Fire Marshal’s office and the East Spencer Police Department are investigating the fire.
The apartment building is owned by Bradley James Means of Mooresville.
