Authorities blame arson for a fire that damaged an unoccupied house on Statesville Boulevard Monday afternoon.
“Somebody went in and set a fire,” said Doug Stevens, assistant fire marshal for the Salisbury Fire Department. “It’s pretty obvious.”
The house at 2377 Statesville Blvd. was not hooked up to gas or electric utilities, Stevens said.
Stevens said investigators would try to determine if an accelerant was used in the blaze, which caused “minimal damage” to the living part of the house.
The fire had “multiple points of origin,” Stevens said.
Firefighters got the call about 12:15 p.m. It took only minutes for firefighters to control the blaze, he said.
The house had a for-sale sign in the front yard.
The Salisbury Police Department and Fire Department are investigating.
As of Monday afternoon, authorities had no suspects in the case.
