Angel Trees still have names that need to be adopted

The Salvation Army has 880 children who still need to be adopted for Christmas.
A total of 1,443 children were represented on this year’s Angel Trees, up from 1,250 last year. Maj. Robin Starr, who heads up the Salisbury branch of the Salvation Army with his wife, Pam, said only 569 have been adopted so far.
“We’re looking forward to the rest of the angels being adopted so they can have a very merry Christmas,” he said.
Wish gifts and shoe and clothing sizes of children up to age 12 are included on Angel Trees now up at the following locations: Bank of America on West Innes Street; Carson High School; First United Methodist Church of Salisbury; Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove and Landis; Hurley Family YMCA; Cracker Barrel; Sagebrush Steakhouse; Salisbury Mall; SunTrust in Spencer and the Avalon Drive, Statesville Boulevard and West Innes Street branches in Salisbury; and Wal-Mart.
People who adopt angels can buy whatever they want for the children. Starr said adopting an angel is an annual tradition for many individuals, families, coworkers and even businesses.
Gifts should be placed in a secured plastic bag and delivered to the Salvation Army at 620 Bringle Ferry Road no later than Monday, Dec. 15. Donations of food and money to buy food are also being accepted to provide Christmas meals to 798 qualifying families.
Volunteers are needed for the food and gift distribution to be held Dec. 18 and 19 at the former location of Windsong bike shop beside of Pizza Hut on Jake Alexander Boulevard.
