Amateur photographer Justin Leedy was at the right place at the right time Thursday night.
The Harrisburg resident captured on camera a motorcyle accident near Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Luckily, Leedy said, the crash victim wasn’t seriously injured.
Around 8 p.m. Thursday, Leedy and his wife were in a parking lot off Morehead Road, near the intersection of U.S. 29.
“My wife and I were just kind of goofing around, taking some pictures,” he said.
That’s when he heard a motorcyle approaching.
“It basically just sounded like (the driver) cranked it wide open,” Leedy said.
The motorcyle driver’s name was not immediately available.
By the time, Leedy got a glimpse of the action, he said, the motorcyle was in a nearly upright position.
“He was basically in a wheelie stance,” Leedy said. “It wheeled over backwards, and the tumble began.”
Leedy said he snapped six or seven pictures of the crash ó as it was happening ó and ran to his car to grab his cell phone.
He called 911 and headed for the victim, but some people who live in the area got there first, Leedy said.
“He seemed all right at the time,” he said. “He was a little dazed.”
Leedy said he didn’t talk to the accident victim, who was transported to a local hospital.
