Two teenagers were lucky to survive a single-car crash where their vehicle overturned Saturday afternoon.
According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, a 1995 Subaru driven by Shawn Lloyd, 18, of 2975 White Road, Mount Ulla, was heading south on Kepley Road when it ran off the road, hit a cement culvert and overturned several times.
Peyton Craddock, 18, of China Grove, was a passenger in the car and was the most seriously injured of the two.
The accident happened near Kepley Road’s intersection with U.S. 70.
Trooper A.J. Carpenter of the Highway Patrol estimated the speed of the Subaru at 90 mph. He charged Lloyd with careless and reckless driving.
Both Lloyd and Craddock were transported to Rowan Regional Medical Center. Lloyd was treated and released. Craddock was admitted to the hospital, but has since been released.
