Salisbury Police charged a teenager with assault and burglary after investigators say she burst into a Lafayette Street apartment waving a gun Saturday.
Brittany Desha Thompson, 19, of 6035 Long Branch Road, Salisbury, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and first-degree burglary.
According to a police report:
Thompson knocked on the door at the LaFayette Street apartment and when the occupant, who knew her, opened the door a little, Thompson burst in. She cursed and demanded to see the occupant’s roommate, whom she threatened to kill.
Hearing the commotion, the female roommate came out of her room. She and Thompson scuffled and Thompson hit the roommate in the face with a small BB gun. The woman managed to get the gun from Thompson, who then ran out the door.
The apartment’s occupants told police they believe Thompson attacked the woman because she felt the woman had been rude to her during an earlier telephone conversation.
Thompson remained in the Rowan County Detention Center on Monday under $25,000 bond.
