Salisbury Police are looking for a man who raped a Salisbury teen around midnight Thursday in the parking lot of the J.C. Price American Legion Post.
The 18-year-old woman was returning home after taking a friend home and thought she blew a tire. The young woman pulled into the 1433 Old Wilkesboro Road parking lot to check on her tires.
A man approached her and asked if she was having car trouble. He offered to help her.
She declined his help, a report said.
“He said he thought she was pretty and wanted to talk to her,” Salisbury Police Chief Mark Wilhelm said.
The suspect hit her on the right side of the face and held her at gunpoint. She pleaded with him to stop, but he drew the black semi-automatic handgun on her. He then forced her into her car, where he raped her.
“He took off in an unknown direction when a car drove by,” Wilhelm said.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black man, about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He also had shoulder-length dreadlocks or braids. The suspect was wearing a black-hooded coat with no fur around the hood and blue jeans. He spoke with a deep voice and had no facial hair.
No one was at the legion at the time of the incident, but investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or the Salisbury-Rowan Crimestoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
