A large-scale development of self-storage units is planned for 1208 Lincolnton Road, behind Walgreens.
The mini-warehouse project will include seven buildings totaling more than 88,000 square feet of storage space. There also will be 25 parking spaces and four loading spaces.
A long main building, which will be located at Lincolnton Road and the back driveway access to Walgreens, will be two stories and include 53,188 square feet of space.
Other buildings, all one story, will take up 11,653 square feet, 10,800 square feet, 4,500 square feet, 4,100 square feet, 2,600 square feet and 900 square feet.
The Salisbury Planning Board approved the site plan for the self-storage development by an 8-0 vote Tuesday.
Eric Francis of Winston-Salem was in attendance, representing the developer, identified only as Lincolnton Self Storage LLC.
Francis told the Planning Board that a section of the site has been raised 1.5 feet to bring it out of the flood plain.
The mini warehouses will share the back driveway that now serves the drugstore.
In the future, the driveway also will be used to serve a third parcel, which fronts on Jake Alexander Boulevard and is next to the Walgreens.
The Planning Board’s recommendation for approval will go to Salisbury City Council.
