Staff report
Authorities charged two men Tuesday in a home invasion and robbery and another man who was with them for drug possession.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Ravon Torrence, who lives on Partee Drive in China Grove. He told investigators he heard a knock at the door and, when he opened it, a man shoved a pistol in his face.
Torrence told Rowan County Sheriff’s Office investigators the gunman said he “came to get the money.” That man and another man with him made Torrence turn away from them as they robbed him.
Torrence told authorities he turned in time to see the men run out the door and get into a waiting car. He followed the car and subsequently struck it from behind. Three suspects jumped from the car and ran.
One suspect later told authorities that stopped running because he thought Torrence had a gun. That suspect, William Bunnell, was taken into custody. Bunnell, 31, of 2205 Woodleaf Road, Apt. 7F, Salisbury, received a citation for simple possession of marijuana.
A short time later, authorities caught the other two suspects, Kamario Emmanuel “KP” Palmer and Erenicko McCauley.
Palmer, 25, of 1320 Julius Drive, Salisbury, is charged with first-degree burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held Wednesday in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond.
Department reports indicate Palmer had a .45-caliber handgun.
McCauley, 18, of 1050 E. Franklin St., Salisbury, was charged with first-degree burglary. He was being held at the detention center under a $10,000 bond.
Bunnell told deputies that KP asked Bunnell to drive him to a home on Partee Drive to “pick up some things,” Sheriff’s Capt. John Sifford said.
According to Bunnell, when Palmer and McCauley got into the car, they told him to “just drive.”
