Milbrook Medical Park, proposed for Statesville Boulevard across from Meadowbrook Road, received city approval Tuesday on a preliminary plat.
The development covers almost 6 acres and will include a new public street with a cul de sac and nine commercial lots.
Bill Wagoner of Wagoner Properties spoke on the medical park’s behalf at Tuesday’s meeting of the Salisbury Planning Board. The board approved the preliminary plat by a 11-0 vote.
Wagoner said the new street will stretch about 600 feet and have a 20 mph speed limit. To obtain permission for a curb cut on Statesville Boulevard from the N.C. Department of Transportation, Wagoner said, the developer will have to align the new street with Meadowbrook Road.
The new street will have sidewalk on both sides. The city has agreed to allow the developer to make a payment in lieu of construction for sidewalk along Statesville Boulevard.
Civil Engineer Patrick Ritchie said federal funding available to the city in 2010 could be used to leverage five times as much sidewalk at that time.
