Gray Stone Day School’s mock trial team was the regional winner of the recent Wade Edwards High School Mock Trial Regional Competition at the Buncombe County Courthouse in Asheville.
The team will compete in state finals against 15 other regional winners March 8-9 at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse.
Seven teams comprised of 55 students competed in the regional event sponsored by the N.C. Academy of Trial Lawyers Education Foundation. Participating students play the roles of attorneys and witnesses.
Gray Stone coaches are Scott Wilson, a history teacher, and Anna Morrison, an assistant district attorney from Monroe.
Raegan Perry of Salisbury received special recognition as best attorney at the regional event. Other area participants are Danny Horner and Rick Honeycutt of New London, Katie Hopkins and Kaleigh Featherstone of Albemarle.
Millbridge Citizens
Millbridge Elementary School recently recognized the following students as February Good Citizens:

Target Field Trip grant
Emily Kozakiewicz, a third-grade teacher at Hanford Dole Elementary School, has been awarded a $1,000 Target Field Trip grant.
The grant is designed to bring learning to life for students.Kozakiewicz was selected from more than 16,000 applicants from around the country to receive the grant. She will use it to take 100 third-grade students to Morehead Planetarium at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill April 10 to see “Magic Tree House Space Mission.”
