LANDIS ó A Landis man was killed during the lunchtime hour Friday when his motorcycle collided with a car in the 400 block of Kimball Road.
Lt. Mark Benfield of the Landis Police Department identified the victim as Daniel Braxton Long, 26, of 544 Kimball Road.
A passerby who came on the scene started CPR and continued until fire and emergency service personnel arrived. The CPR on Long continued for more than 30 minutes, but resuscitation efforts ended at 12:51 p.m.
Emergency crews were first dispatched to the scene at 12:24 p.m., when the CPR already was in progress.
The driver of the Volkswagen Jetta, 76-year-old Betty Mault Kimball of 3930 Daugherty Road, China Grove, was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Landis Fire Chief Reed Linn said Kimball was visibly shaken, but her injuries were not serious.
Traveling east, the motorcycle hit a side door of the Volkswagen, which was heading in the opposite direction.
Benfield said the wreck was still under investigation.
