KANNAPOLIS ó A Cabarrus County congregation started last year by a former television news reporter will begin holding services at its own church Sunday.
Vertical Horizons Church has signed a lease-to-own agreement for the former Faith Evangelical Methodist Church at 1945 Old Earnhardt Road, the church said in a press release.
Members have been meeting the last year at Cabarrus Baptist Association’s headquarters on Lee-Ann Drive in Concord. Their new church totals 8,300 square feet and has incredible potential, the press release said.
The church is associated with the Southern Baptist Convention and is pastored by former WSOC Salisbury bureau reporter Ron Magnuson.
“I’m excited to see God working in so many ways,” Magnuson said in the press release. “He has opened all the right doors and closed all the wrong ones. ”
Magnuson started Vertical Horizons a little more than a year ago and left WSOC in January to enter the ministry full time.
Vertical Horizons plans to begin meeting at the new church Sunday. The service is at 10 a.m.
