The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for a suspect in 10 a.m. robbery of a Loomis Fargo armored van at the Wachovia automated teller machine at 1580 N. Main St. in China Grove.
The Loomis Fargo employee said once he got out of the van, he was approached by a black or very dark skinned male in his early to mid-20s.
The suspect showed a handgun and said, “Give me the money.” The employee handed over a blue bag of cash, then the suspect ran toward the railroad tracks and disappeared.
The suspect is described as 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11, wearing a navy blue shirt and blue jeans. He had a dark shirt over his face during the robbery.
He may be driving a small, four-door black car, possibly a Ford Focus.
A K-9 unit tried to track the suspect, and the N.C. Highway Patrol used their helicopter, but found nothing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687 or Salisbury-Rowan CrimeStoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
