Undercover drug operation nets arrest

A Salisbury man is being held under $100,000 bond for drug charges.
Darren Wayne Heffner, 40, of 6355 U.S. 601, has been charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell Schedule III controlled substance and five counts of trafficking opium.
On March 19, investigators with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested Heffner after a one-month investigation in which undercover officers bought hydrocodone from Heffner.
On Feb. 24, an undercover officer bought 50 hydrocodone tablets from Heffner. On March 10, Heffner sold 50 more hydrocodone tablets to another undercover officer. Investigators arrested Heffner during a vehicle stop on Castor Road.
Heffner was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $100,000. secured bond, pending a first appearance in court on Monday.
