Suspect sought in truck theft

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who stole a pickup truck from Grove Motor.
On Aug. 17, Mark Huffman, the co-owner of Grove Motor at 1580 N. Main St., China Grove, reported the theft of a blue 1970 Chevrolet truck.
Huffman said that a subject was caught on their surveillance video asking about the truck that was later stolen. The same subject was later captured on video pulling into the car lot in a white minivan and parking beside the blue 1970 Chevrolet truck.
The subject exited the van and crawled under the truck. The subject was also seen raising the hood of the truck.
Later that night, at approximately 1 a.m., on Aug. 15, what appeared to be the same minivan was again captured on video pulling back into the car lot. Seconds later the Chevrolet truck was driven from the lot.
Anyone with information about this suspect should contact Lt. C. Moose at 704-216-8700 or call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
