The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who robbed Crossroads Market Saturday night, taking money and pointing a gun at the clerk.
The incident occurred at 9 p.m. at 4195 Lentz Road. The man came into the store, displayed a gun and demanded money. While the register drawer was open, the man reached in and grabbed the money.
The man had the gun in his pocket and walked up to the counter and pulled it out, said Capt. John Sifford.
Witnesses saw the man leave the store, walk quickly toward the side of the building and get into a green 1990s Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle drove away on Old Beatty Ford Road toward Kannapolis.
The suspect is described as 6 feet tall, 250 pounds, and wearing blue jeans and a blue T-shirt. He also had on a dark-colored lightweight jacket with a gray liner. He had on glasses and a Lowe’s NASCAR cap. He was described as light skinned, with a reddish-pink complexion.
The clerk was not injured during the incident. There was at least one other person in the store, and that person was not injured. Video surveillance shows a man near an aisle backing away after apparently realizing a robbery is taking place.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245 or the Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700.
