Police say a Salisbury man robbed another man Monday morning outside a Statesville Boulevard business, then fired a gun at two other people.
Authorities are searching for a second suspect.
The man assaulted Billy McSwain in front of H&P Business Center, an Internet cafe at 2164 Statesville Blvd.
The Salisbury Police Department charged Tony Bernard Chambers, 40, of 812 W. Fisher St., with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Investigators are looking for Kenneth Dwayne Swan, 28, 830 W. Bank St., who they say was also involved.
The robbery occurred at 7:30 a.m. near Queen City Audio, Video and Appliances in the Market Place shopping center.
The suspect physically assaulted McSwain and took a briefcase containing an undetermined amount of cash, Police Chief Mark Wilhelm said.
It is unclear if McSwain owns a business in that area or was in the location for another reason.
“The suspect fled on foot to the Holly Avenue area,” Wilhelm said.
At one point, police said, shots were fired.
Chambers then got into a small white pickup that was waiting for him at Holly Leaf Apartments and left the area, police said.
The investigation is continuing, Wilhelm said.
