Student receives research stipend
A Catawba College student has received a $1,000 research stipend from the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) to perform research. Only five research stipends were awarded throughout the state by the NCICU.
Junior Devin Rodgers of Glen Burnie, Md., an environmental science major, received the stipend which will allow him to work with Dr. Constance Lowery, an assistant professor of biology at Catawba. Devin will examine the effects of increased atmospheric CO2 levels on calcification in a hydroid, an organism related to coral.
