Salisbury City Council has approved reducing the speed limit to 25 mph on Circle Drive, located near Rowan Regional Medical Center.
The street, which has stop signs on both ends, has 18 different properties and extends between Mocksville Avenue and Henderson Street.
A petition signed by 56 percent of the property owners along the two-block street requested the change.
City Traffic Engineer Wendy Brindle reported that Circle Drive used to carry about 700 vehicles a day before Grove Street was extended in early 2007. Recent counts put the traffic volume on Circle Drive at about 450 vehicles a day.
