The second of five “Read to Your Child Days” program will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at the Spencer Library.
The event features local officials reading to children among many of its activities.
Free books also are available for children pre-K through high school. Door prizes are given away, including a Wii at each event.
Future Read to Your Child Days will be held July 29 at the South Rowan Library, Aug. 5 at the East Rowan Library in Rockwell and Aug. 12 at the Cleveland Town Hall.
Last week, nearly 700 people attended the first Read to Your Child Days program at the Rowan Public Library in Salisbury. Some 300 new library cards were issued to children and their parents that evening.
Salisbury and Rowan County governments are working together on this community awareness program to promote reading throughout the county.
