Salisbury, Rowan County animal control services to merge July 1

The city of Salisbury’s Animal Control Services will merge with Rowan County July 1.
On that date, Salisbury residents should begin contacting Rowan County Animal Control with animal-related concerns and complaints.
Rowan County’s Animal Control covers cases of possible rabid animals, dog and cat bites, vicious dogs and cruelty and abandonment cases.
In addition, Rowan County Animal Control may be contacted about animals running loose, including dogs, cats and livestock.
On May 5, the Salisbury City Council approved a merger of the Salisbury Animal Control function with that of the Rowan County Animal Control Services Division.As of July 1, Salisbury citizens will no longer report animal-related issues to the Salisbury Police Department.
The Rowan County Animal Control Office can be reached at 704-216-7768. Its hours of operation are from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8-11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Outside of normal business hours, callers are asked to call 911 for assistance with emergencies only.
