A Salisbury man pleaded guilty this week to raping and committing other sex offenses against a young girl.
Miguel Munos Andrade, 37, of 2835 Airport Road, was sentenced in Rowan County Superior Court to 18 years to 22 years in prison.
In March 2008, Andrade was charged with nine counts of rape and nine counts of sex offense against a child.
According to Assistant District Attorney Karen Biernacki, Andrade pleaded guilty to all of the offenses. The charges were consolidated and the sentence was based on the more serious of the crimes, the rape charges.
“The abuse is alleged to have occurred over a year,” Biernacki said.
Andrade knew the victim, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office investigators have said. Andrade has been in jail since his arrest on a $200,000 bond.
